More 'schooling'

Sid's supposed to learn 'general' names for things. He was doing ok:
peas, potatoes, carrots (vegetables)
roses, lilies, jasmine (flowers)
But tables, chairs, beds (stuff)...!!!

I'm special, they're not special

I was running Sid through his English lessons and asking him how to spell receive. Jay started saying receiv, receive.. So I say "God, I have to go through this with you as well! So many years of 'schooling'!
So Sid is exulting, at my 'trouble'. I get miffed, of course, and say wait 'til you get your own kids. They'll trouble you like this. Sid says I'll whack them one or two. So I say, ha! Can I whack you too then? He says No, because I'm special, they're not special... :-|

Sid's learnt this from a friend...

As usual, Jay is snatching everything Sid picks up. And after 5 minutes of this Sid goes "Maddy goose, chaddi loose, mental goose, American mongoose".

Hey, shrug. I'm not the right person to answer where this came from :-|

More bak bak from Jay

He's found a small pipe from his toy set today. I was telling to lay a pipe in the game. He picks it up and decided it's better off as a salt/pepper shaker. He says 'little pepper, little salt' shaking it. I have no idea when he learnt about salt/pepper shakers!

Amma, "top (stop), 'toooppp, 'toopppppp!" If he wants me to stop what I'm doing and turn his way.

Jay 'pider (spider) scared. 'pider bite Jay, anna...

Gimme chips. Gimme piknik. Gimme candy. Gimme ball. Gimme never ends....

Jay put tab (for tube), go chimming (swimming).. when hot sun.

"This one Jay, this one anna..." (demarcating what's his and isn't...)

The time is always "7.30"... :) if u ask him

All in a day's vocab - with Jay

'Amma, what fell?' - if he hears something fall.

'Jay go play alone' - if I tell him there's no one in the playground and he'll get bored.

'Anna (Sid) see waka waka, Jay see freedom' - when he wants to see K'Naan's Give me Freedom on youtube. And after his song, he will want to see waka waka also.

'Ay, why natch?' 'Ay, why push'? 'Ay, why throw ball there?' 'Ay, why amma cold (scold) me?'... as if there aren't so many unanswered questions out there already !

'Amma, elp me' - if something's stuck and he can't get to it.

'Raksha, Ratan...wear cap. Me also'

'Pease give me, last candy, ok?' (this is repeated at least ten times a day).

'Show me runnin' one video'.

There are so many more things he says, so cutely. More as and when I can remember :).

Jay amazes me every day

Jay's been listening to the alligator-monkey story for a few nights now. In which the alligator wants to eat the monkey while ferrying him across the river. And the monkey gets away by telling the silly alligator that his heart is across the river and the alligator can eat him after he gets across.

Jay is also looking at picture books these days and he saw a heart shape the other day. I told him it was a heart the day before yesterday. This morning when he turned to the page again, he identified it as a heart.

When I showed surprise that he remembered it's a heart, he says, "heart, same monkey story".

!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
